love poem to myself
how do you do it
sweet boy?
when the sun scoffs
and flat out refuses to shine
you find
bright
green
glow worms
to light your way.
oh, do they wriggle in your gentle hands?
yes, perhaps
are they sticky and swollen and a little bit
icky?
oh, most assuredly
but a light is a light is a light
little one,
and a friend is a friend is a friend.
and a frightened boy
with unblinking
blue
eyes
will find sparkling
air kisses
where others
find only
the lingering
fingers
of
death
so how do you do it
sweet boy?
does your silence say it all?
oh yes
yes it does
for you,
like me,
haven’t even a clue…
“how do you do it
sweet boy?”
and a poet too. I should have guessed.
you are continually amazing
love

Splendid poem, Sir Cary! I dub thee Poet Laureate of California!
If I may respond in kind …
For all the Brave Children
In smiles remembered, though sunlight has faded,
your joy for life will never be shaded …
forever shining in our hearts.
We who love you have gifts more precious than any coin can buy.
You gave us, by example, proof that dreams can fly
and lift us with them, beyond all cold restraints.
No fear, no harm, no happenstance can keep us from this place.
This shelter lives within us, as calm as morning dew.
Every bright color,
each note of laughter,
a magic memory - YOU!

Live strong, Sir Cary!

Cary you are a poet indeed, very touching. Hope you are doing well and allowing yourself to enjoy each day. Take care. Arlene (AJ)
this poem reminds me of me as a kid… at the end of the garden, away from them and their games and their controlling ways. i was happy, by myself - finding little things to light my day… i don’t think that i was bad and weird - but i used to think that.
i love that poem, cary.
I am glad to see your writing again, and was much moved by you’r latest effort
Here is something I’ve been working on in light of all the changes you and I have both been through. It’s kinda a kids song, I don’t have a title, and I’m sure it won’t be as effective without a melody, but mabey you will like it.
If the moon should go away
don’t you know she’s coming back as bright as ever any day
she only passed behind a shadow
when the sun is going down, don’t you know he’s coming back around
on the other side of town
he only passed behind a shadow
I will love you for forever and a day
and should i ever go away
please don’t dismay
I only passed beyond the shadow
O coarse therll be more verses
I just ordered a new concert neck Uke and will have it tommorow
I hope we can jam sometime soon
Love ray
It does my heart good to know you’re writing again. Love, MOM
