i’m happy to say, we’re back…

music1Wow, we had a truly inspiring band practice this weekend!!.. see, we sadly lost two important members recently (stand-up bass and tenor uke) due mostly to other obligations, and I’ve been worried ever since that we’d have a hard time pulling off our current set with just the three of us.

So it was a big relief to realize that with the removal of just three songs we were able to make the rest of the set work just fine as a trio — in fact, it sounded pretty amazing if you ask me… on top of that, we’ve added three new songs, and we’ll be working hard in the next few months to build a really fat set-list before we schedule another show.

I can’t really express what it means to me to be playing and singing again. In the five months we’ve been doing this, new life has quite literally poured back into my heart, and that, of course, is absolutely priceless.

I’m hoping we’ll be ready to play in public again by the end of Summer, so as always, I’ll keep you informed. We’ll also be doing some recording soon, probably starting in August. When we’ve got something good I’ll be sure to post it here.

Hope you’re all having a wonderful Summer. Stay cool!

Yesterday I was listening to one of my favorite songs- nearly always during this song I get a orange feeling and I’m feeling reconciles with the world again.
Unfortunately it is a german song – but searching the internet I found a translation & I thought I could send it to you…the songwriter is quite popular in Germany but I guess he’ s mostly unknown in the USA.
Ten years ago his wife past away and a long time he wasn’t able to sing or to kompose. But then he came back with a new album that contained this song dedictated to his wife.
The original is called “Mensch” which means “human beeing” from Herbert Grönemeyer. It’ s a pity that I can’t put the song into this message- but I’ll put the translation in:

    Right now is right
    Right now is good
    Nothing’s really important
After low tide comes high tide
    on the beach of life
    Without reason, without understanding
    nothing is in vain
I build my dreams on the sand

And it is, it is okay
    Everything on the way
    It’s (a) sunny time
    Unburdened and free
    And (hu)man is called (hu)man
Because he forgets, because he represses
Because he’s enthusiastic and toughens up
He warms up when he tells tales
And because he laughs, because he lives, you’re missed

The firmament (sky) has opened up
    Cloudless and ocean blue
    And telephone, gas, electricity
    Unpaid and that’s all right
    Share your peace with me
    Even if it’s only borrowed
    I don’t want your love
    I only want your word

And it is, it is okay
    Everything on the way
    It’s (a) sunny time
    Clear and easy
    And man is called man
And because he errs, and because he struggles
    Because he hopes and loves
    Because he empathizes and forgives
And because he laughs, and because he lives, you’re missed
Oh, because he laughs, because he lives, you’re missed

    Oh, its okay
    Everything on the way
    It’s (a) sunny time
    Clear and easy
    And man is called man
Because he forgets, because he suppresses
And because he’s enthusiastic and believes
    Depends on and trusts (others)
And because he laughs, because he lives, you’re missed

    Oh, it’s quite okay
It hurts the same all over (uniformly)
    It’s (a) sunny time
    Without any plan, without accompaniment
    And man is called man
Because he remembers, because he struggles
    Because he hopes and loves
    Because he empathizes and forgives
And because he laughs, and because he lives, you’re missed
Oh, because he laughs, and because he lives, you’re missed

    Ohh, lalalay

I thought you could like it.
    Hope you’ll enjoy the day!
