my heart is a heart of darkness

that boa constrictor nearly ate me alive.
it was only your smile
that sent her packing
and she was not at all happy as she left.

of bikes and bluegrass

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

inthebarrel_630well, it’s pretty much bike season again here in sacramento, and with my spine tweaked-out from riding all hunched over on my mountain bike, i’ve gone and bought myself something a bit more back friendly.

it’s a totally stripped down single speed beach cruiser with coaster brakes, which should work just perfect for tooling around the flatness of sacramento. got it for a song and a dance.

i can’t wait to get out there on the road with my badass new bicycle gang in tow! sacramento can be pretty miserable in the summer, but one of its high points is those amazing summer nights… perfect time to meet up with friends, mosey down to the rubicon for a beer, and let the stiff summer breeze muss up your hair real good.

On Another Front, i helped two of my friends purchase mandolins over the last week and a half, and on tuesday, after our weekly sushi night, we had a little beginner’s bluegrass jam at my house. it was a lot of fun! both ladies have obvious talent, and we were actually playing some good music before long. (ooh, that katie can harmonize, too!)

i’ve found that i really enjoy helping people learn… just about anything. anyway, the other weekly bluegrass jam i was attending has kind of fallen apart, so i think we’re going to be starting one up every thursday in my living room. i’m totally looking forward to it.

let me know if you want in. beginners welcome. okay, better get back to work.

invisible reader, who are you?

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

each and every day so many people find their way to this website — and yet most of you are silent. invisible. in and out again without leaving a trace.

and yet, really… you do leave a trace. you just don’t know it.

my web stats package can’t tell me who you are, but it CAN tell me where you are coming from (geographically speaking, that is,) and i find it so intriguing that many of you are right here in sacramento.

sure, periodically someone in my offline world will admit to following my website invisibly, and i find it really refreshing, but i really want to know who the rest of you are.

well wishers?

accidental tourists?

hmmm… feel like introducing yourself? i’d love ot know more about you.

really.

i would. :)

it’s foolish i know, but
